The state and federal laws require all public school districts to hold an annual public hearing to discuss the performance levels of its students for the previous school year. The Tahoka Independent School District will hold that public hearing on Monday, February 8, 2021 at 4:30 pm. in the board room. This meeting will replace the regular monthly board meeting that was scheduled for Thursday, February 11th. The public hearing will include information on the following reports:
· 2019-20 Texas Academic Performance Report (TARS)
· 2019-20 State School Report Card
· 2019-20 Federal School Report Card
In a normal year, each district and campus in the state would receive an accountability rating based on specific achievement and/or growth factors set by the state and federal government; however, this is not a normal year. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, neither the state or the feds are issuing a rating on school’s academic achievement or progress. Instead, all schools are receiving a designation of “Not Rated: Declared State of Disaster”. But school districts are still required by law to hold a public hearing. Following the public hearing, access to those reports will be made available on the school website.
Following the public hearing, the Board will go into closed session to review all superintendent applications it has received as of the February 1st application deadline.
